Goodyers End School is one of six schools in the parish of St Giles.

Goodyers End County Junior and Infant School opened in May 1957 under the leadership of Mr Lawrence Mills who was the Headteacher until 1977 when Mr John Paley became Head.  In September 1996 both schools were amalgamated to become Goodyers End Primary School under Mrs Gina Gothard who remained Headteacher until September 2001 when Rose Daniels, the current Headteacher, took up post.

We are a Local Authority funded school, admitting boys and girls between the ages of 4 and 11.  Our maximum intake is sixty children in any one year group and we currently have a growing roll of approximately 320 children.

The development of literacy, numeracy and computer skills are central to our work and we also offer a broad and varied curriculum to develop children's natural curiosity, creativity and love of learning.  Wherever possible we develop first-hand experience through school visits, inviting visitors to the school to share their experiences and by using the outdoor learning environment as often as possible.

School Aims Statement ~ Our children will:

  • have the skills and knowledge to meet the challenges of the future
  • have a positive impact on the community through their actions
  • aim high, progress well and enjoy learning
  • respect themselves and respect each other
  • exercise and eat well for a healthy body and healthy mind.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Are you retired and looking for a new interest?  Well look no further!  Many children need help with their literacy and numeracy AND it’s really great fun to help.  I have been going into a couple of local schools recently and  working with those that are struggling or may just need a little help.  All schools need this sort of help and will give you a really warm welcome.  If you would like to chat to me about what a typical morning at school is like in the 21st century give me a bell on (024) 7636 2995.
