Musical Director: Maurice Greaves

The Band is one of the varied activities connected to St. Giles Church.  The Band meets on Wednesday Evenings in the Small Church Hall.  Juniors & Learners meet from 18.45 hrs to 19.45 hrs and band practice 19.45 hrs to 21.15 hrs.

The band was formed in the 1970’s as an additional musical group for the Church.

The regular engagements for the band are at the Armistice Service, the Church Summer Fair, Carol Playing round the parish and providing Christmas music at local homes for the elderly. The band also organises a series of concert in the church hall.

The band received a grant in 2003 from The Coal Board Regeneration Trust to purchase five new instruments for training young musicians.  We also received a donation of 10 instruments from Bedworth Brass in 2004. This has kick started our junior band and we now have 10 youngster as members. In addition the Musical Director in conjunction with the Headmaster of St. Giles Junior School have now formed the pupils currently receiving Brass tuition at the school, into a School Band with a membership of 18 pupils.
