Who
are we?
We are a
small group of brass players who meet weekly at St. Giles Church, Exhall. Ages
range from 10yrs to 73yrs. We also have a small number of youngsters in our
learners class. The yearly programme includes playing at the Summer Fete’ and
Christmas Fayre, Carol Playing prior to Christmas, and the Remembrance Sunday
Service. We also play at local homes for senior citizens and promote two band
concerts annually. We enter the Nuneaton Music Festival each year to encourage
our young member to raise the standard of their playing.
History
The band
was formed in about 1975 as an additional music group based at St. Giles Church,
Exhall, Warwickshire, just North of Coventry, by junction 3 of the M6. The Band
rehearses in the Small Church Hall on Wednesday evening at 7.00pm until 9.15
pm. The juniors rehearse from 6.30.pm. prior to band practice.

Future Goals
We would
welcome additional members to help us continue raising the Band’s playing
standard and give the band a fuller sound. We will also teach adults and
children to play brass instruments. The Musical Director visits one of the
local schools weekly and takes the School Band, this has resulted in several
pupils joining the Church Band, this in turn has speeded the youngsters
progress, by having help from the experienced players.
