Our new curate John Horton and his wife Liz talking to some of our parishioners.

The Reverend John Horton is our curate and he has been at St Giles' since June 2007.

John and Liz Horton were married in 1989 and have lived on the South West side of London near Heathrow airport since early in 1990.  Liz was born in Scotland and brought up in Loughborough.  She is a doctor who specialises in the care of the elderly and acute medicine.  Until recently she ran a Medical Assessment Unit at St. Peter's Hospital, Chertsey.  Liz loves propagating plants, photography and walking.

John was brought up in Poole, Dorset and began life as an agriculturalist.  In 1976 he went with the Church Mission Society to work in Northern Nigeria on a church-based agricultural project and stayed for twelve years.  Returning to the UK in 1988 John spent a year at Reading University before joining Tearfund as Regional Manager for Africa.  In 2005 John helped to lead Tearfund's response to the tsunami but left to train for ordination at the Salisbury based STETS course.  John also enjoys walking, gardening, photography and writing.  John and Liz originally met in Nigeria in 1979.
