St Giles Church is a large
church and it is important that we seek to care for the different needs of the
congregations that worship here. To this end we have introduced what we are
calling ‘Service Chaplains’ who will work along side the clergy and wardens to
ensure that new people are welcomed and cared for and the needs and concerns of
regulars addressed.
It is hoped that the role of
Warden, which is principally an administrative one, will become more focussed
and less burdened by Sunday duties. Wardens will still play an important part in
church life but they and the chaplains will be part of a team whose aim will be
to promote the ministry and mission of the church.
Wardens are appointed at the
AGM and commissioned by the Archdeacon at a special Deanery service each year.
We would now like to see the role of Service Chaplain develop at the church.
The chaplains were commissioned by the Bishop of Warwick on Tuesday 24th April
at an evening service.
We pray that this new
development will help us sustain and strengthen the growth in membership that we
have seen in recent years. |
